Jacks Begin Eight-Game Road Trip with Three-in-Three

Dec 27, 2023

The Odessa Jackalopes are rested and recharged as they get set to take on the Corpus Christi IceRays and the Lone Star Brahmas this weekend to begin a big eight-game road stand.

The Jackalopes had a rough weekend to close out the home stand before Christmas, winning just one of three games against a tough Amarillo Wranglers squad. It wasn’t all bad, however, as the Jacks finished the ten-game home stand 5-3-1, (did not play against El Paso on Saturday, 12/2). A lot of bright spots to look at for the Jacks. They had a four-game win streak within the home stand, which is the longest of the season to date. Returning forward Cameron Dunn is also on a five-game point streak heading into the 2nd half of the season. The 1st line of James Richman, Michael Kadlecik, and Cameron Dunn, has really stepped up to the plate over the last month and a half and been a real threat to all teams on the offensive front.

Goaltender Quentin Sigurdson continues his stellar season, his record on the year sits at 12-8-2 with a 2.08 GAA and a .939 SV% with 2 shutouts. He has been magnificent throughout the year, and as the Jacks enter the 2nd half of the season, they will surely rely on him down the stretch.

As for their opponent on Friday and Saturday night, the Corpus Christi IceRays are 9-18-3 on the season. They have been on the struggle bus as of late with a 2-7-1 record in their last ten contests. This will be Corpus Christi’s 1st home series since the 1st week of December where they played the Shreveport MudBugs. On the season the IceRays have a 3-10-0 record at home which happens to be worse than their 6-8-3 road record.

The thorn in the side for the Jackalopes against the IceRays has been Pierson Sobush. In two games against the Jacks this season, Sobush has two goals and two assists totaling four points. The bright side for the Jacks, however, is that they won both contests against Corpus Christi, despite Sobush’s strong offensive effort.

As for Sunday’s opponent, the Lone Star Brahmas, they are the hottest team in the NAHL. The Brahmas have the most points in the entire NAHL (51), and are 9-0-1 in their last ten games. This will be the first time these two teams meet, and on the back end of a three-in-three. The Jacks are going to have to be up to the task to take on the Brahmas on Sunday.

This weekend’s contests are:

Friday, December 29th, 7:35 P.M.

Saturday, December 30th, 7:35 P.M.

Sunday, December 31st, 7:00 P.M.

These games will be streamed on the NAHL’s streaming service, NAHLTV.
