Jacks Begin Final Home Stand of the Year with Three-in-Three

Mar 13, 2024

The Odessa Jackalopes are still in the hunt for the playoffs with nine games to go. Luckily for the Jackalopes, seven of the last nine games will be here at the JackShack, as they take on the Ice Wolves and IceRays this weekend.

Last weekend was an off weekend for the Jackalopes, following a very close weekend against the New Mexico Ice Wolves that had everything you could imagine. One game went to overtime, both nights there were 5 on 3 power plays, and even a goalie fight. However, the Jacks never gave up in either of the contests which has been a theme all year.

Last weekend the Oklahoma Warriors, who the Jacks are chasing for the 6th and final spot in the play-in tournament, were swept by the El Paso Rhinos which allows the Jackalopes to stay within single digit point range for that last spot. The Jackalopes are nine points out with nine games to go in the regular season. There are a lot of scenarios that could happen, however, the schedule favors the Jackalopes.

Taking a look at what the Ice Wolves did last weekend, they were at home to take on the Colorado Grit in a three-in-three. The Ice Wolves went 2-1-0 last weekend as the Grit snapped a 16 game point streak for the Ice Wolves on Saturday night.

As for the Corpus Christi IceRays, they had a tough opponent last weekend as they were swept by the Lone Star Brahmas. The IceRays have lost six of their last seven games, with their only win coming against the team below them in the standings, the Colorado Grit.

This is setting up to be an entertaining weekend of hockey. Be sure to come out and support the Jackalopes, as they will be wearing specialty Shriners jerseys all weekend long. You can get your hands on one of the players’ jerseys on Saturday night with a post-game jersey auction!

The schedule for this weekend’s games is as follows:

Thursday, March 14th, vs. New Mexico @ 7:15 P.M.

Friday, March 15th, vs. Corpus Christi @ 7:15 P.M

Saturday, March 16th, vs. Corpus Christi @ 7:15 P.M.

All Jacks games can be streamed on the North American Hockey League’s streaming service NAHLTV, with the voice of the Jacks, Brandon Luisi. A free audio only version will also be available on the Odessa Jackalopes YouTube page.
