Jacks Look to Take Momentum Into Weekend Series Against Rhinos

Oct 4, 2023

The Odessa Jackalopes (3-4-1) are set to take on the El Paso Rhinos (5-2-0) this Friday and Saturday night in El Paso.

The Jacks are coming off of their 2nd straight weekend split, this time against the Colorado Grit. Friday was a tough loss for the Jacks as they allowed two shorthanded goals in the 2nd period, and eventually lost the game 5-3. Game two was a much needed turnaround as the Jacks routed the Grit 4-0. Goalie Quentin Sigurdson came up huge for the Jacks, stopping all 30 shots that came his way. This weekend was a big offensive weekend for the back-end. Defenseman Lemuel Vardy registered four assists over the weekend, while fellow defenseman Braden Pietila registered three assists as well.

Their opponents this weekend, the El Paso Rhinos, have not seen action since September 22nd and 23rd where they split a weekend series with the Corpus Christi IceRays. This weekend is a big weekend for the Rhinos as it is their home opening weekend. The Rhinos currently sit 5th in the South division at a 5-2-0 record (10 pts). They are highlighted by forward Frank Tafelski who has 5G, 3A, 8 pts in 7 games.

These games will be available on NAHLTV and a free audio only version of the stream will be available on the Odessa Jackalopes YouTube page.
