Jacks Prepare for Final Two Home Games Against 1st Place Brahmas

Mar 28, 2024

The Odessa Jackalopes, following back-to-back losses to the Shreveport Mudbugs last weekend, take on the 1st place Lone Star Brahmas this Friday and Saturday.

The final two home games of the season are upon us. The Jackalopes last weekend didn’t have the weekend they wanted and thus were eliminated from playoff contention following Friday night’s 3-2 loss, and Oklahoma’s 3-2 overtime loss to Corpus Christi. Friday night, the Jacks got the party started on a power play goal from veteran defenseman John Wojciechowski. The Mudbugs would respond on a net-front scramble just a few minutes later to tie the game at one. Shreveport would score the next two goals, both in the 2nd period to take a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd frame. The Jackalopes, while shorthanded, had possession in the offensive zone, pulled the goaltender to even the sides and brought the game within one on Lem Vardy’s 1st career NAHL goal. More history was made on that goal as forward Michael Kadlecik would move to T-4th all time for single season assists (35) with the primary assist on that goal. The comeback would fall just short as the Jacks fell 3-2. Saturday night, the Jacks unfortunately just couldn’t get going. Shreveport hopped out to the 1-0 lead after one period, added two in the second, and one in the 3rd on a 5 on 3 power play. That gave the Mudbugs the 4-0 win, and the weekend sweep of the Jackalopes.

Taking a look at this weekend’s opponent, the Lone Star Brahmas, they have all but clinched the top spot in the South division and are coming off of a bye-week. These two games against the Jackalopes will be the Brahmas’ last two games of the regular season, therefore they will be well-rested heading into the playoffs.

The schedule for this weekend is as follows:

Friday, March 29th vs. Lone Star @ 7:15 P.M. CDT

Saturday, March 30th, vs. Lone Star @ 7:15 P.M. CDT

All games can be streamed on the league’s streaming service, NAHLTV, with the voice of the Jackalopes, Brandon Luisi. There will be a free audio only version available on the Odessa Jackalopes YouTube page.
