🧹 WEEKEND SWEEP! JACKS WIN 2–1!
The Odessa Jackalopes closed out their weekend in New Mexico with a 2–1 victory over the Ice Wolves, completing the weekend sweep and improving to 2–0 on the season!
The Jacks struck first when Patrick Thomas buried his first goal of the season at 2:20 of the opening period, assisted by Max Pieninkeroinen and Sean Campbell, giving Odessa the early 1–0 lead.
Odessa doubled the lead in the second when Max Pieninkeroinen found the back of the net for his first of the season. Sean Campbell and Patrick Thomas picked up the assists, sending the Jacks into the third up 2–0.
New Mexico made a late push, getting on the board at 3:08 of the third, but Cody Niesen and the Jacks held strong to secure the 2–1 win. Niesen was outstanding between the pipes, stopping 46 of 47 shots for a .979 save percentage and earning the game’s No. 1 Star. Thomas was named the No. 2 Star.
Odessa was outshot 47–25, but the Jacks made their opportunities count and left New Mexico with two wins in two nights — 3–1 Friday and 2–1 Saturday. 🧹🔥
