ODESSA, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes are proud to announce the hiring of Scott Deur as the team’s next GM of Hockey Operations and Head Coach.

“I’d like to thank Don Stone and the rest of the Jackalopes organization for this opportunity. I also want to thank Rob Proffitt and Trevor Stewart as well as the rest of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs organization for the last six years,” said Deur. “We are in a great spot here in Odessa to have players succeed and move on to the next level. I look forward to this opportunity and working with the players we have here.”

Deur, 32, began his coaching career in the North American Hockey League with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in 2015 as an assistant coach. For the past six years, Deur has helped oversee four Midwest Division championship teams, as well as a Robertson Cup championship team in 2016 and a NAHL league regular-season championship in 2017-18.

“We’re excited to have Scott join our team,” said Jackalopes President Rick Matchett. “He comes from a program in the NAHL that has had a lot of success in the league, not only with winning games but helping players move on to the next level.  We look forward to what Scott brings to the Odessa Jackalopes Family!”

Ties to the NAHL run deep for the native of Big Rapids, Michigan. Deur played for three teams in the NAHL from 2007-2010. This included a stint with the Texas Tornado with whom he accumulated 37 points in his final year of juniors. After playing in Texas, Deur played four years of college hockey at the NCAA Division III level for Saint Mary’s University from 2010-2014.
